Lansky Turn Box 4 cer/diam TB-2D2C is a simple sharpening system with ceramic and diamond rods for sharpening kitchen knives, everyday knives and survival tools.
Traditional sharpening by hand, considered by many knife enthusiasts to be the best method of sharpening, requires experience, practice and patience, which most of us do not find the time or inclination for.
For those looking for a simpler and equally effective sharpening method, Lansky has designed the Lansky Turn Box sharpener.
Construction
The construction of the sharpener is very simple, consisting of a wooden base, with holes at different angles, and a set of ceramic and diamond sharpening rods.
The user can decide on the sharpening angle themselves, based on their own preferences, the purpose of the knife or the specifications given by the manufacturer.
When the rods of the same gradation are placed in the holes, the result is a V-type system (double-sided) with a constant sharpening angle. This maintains control over the grinding process, thus influencing its correctness and the quality of sharpening.
The wooden base also acts as a transport container, allowing the elements of the set to be carried safely in one place.
When packed, the kit weighs 210 g and takes up very little space, so survival and bushcraft enthusiasts can also use it in field conditions.
Sharpening angles
Depending on the type and purpose of the knife, the cutting edge can have a different angle, affecting the strength and cutting performance. The Lansky Turn Box sharpener offers 2 angle settings most commonly used by knife manufacturers.
- 20° - kitchen knives, pocket knives, small edc. folders,
- 25° - large edc. folders, hunting knives, outdoor knives, survival knives
Rods
Two types of sharpening rods are included: ceramic and diamond. Ceramic rods with a gradation of 1000 are made of hard alumina, allowing polishing and sharpening of popular steel types, e.g. 440C, N690, 14C28N, AUS8.
The diamond-coated rods with a gradation of 600, are designed for sharpening highly hardened steels of high hardness, e.g. CPM-S30V, M390, Elmax, as well as for faster sharpening of steels of lower hardness.
Set includes:
- 2 diamond rods with a gradation of 600 medium for working sharpness,
- 2 ceramic rods, gradation 1000 extra fine for polishing or quick sharpening.
For cleaning ceramic rods, it is worth buying the Lansky Eraser Block LERAS, which allows you to easily and quickly remove the surface deposit of steel, deposited on the ceramics during sharpening.
